Community Garden Guidelines

Welcome to the Redeemer Community Garden! To help make this a great experience for everyone involved, we ask that you follow these simple guidelines:
Land:
  • Garden plots are 15 x 15 and will be marked prior to the May 10 start date
  • Unless otherwise stated, one plot will be given to individuals, up to two plots to families
  • The goal of the Redeemer Community Garden is to serve as many families as possible. In the past, some gardeners have used family and friends to acquire additional plots for themselves. Please do not do this. Gardeners who do may lose their plots.
  • Gardeners may fence their plots any way they wish, provided they remove all material from the Garden by the close of the growing season (date in November, TBA)
  • Gardeners must keep all crops and fencing inside their plot boundaries—and especially keep them clear of Garden paths, so the paths may be mowed easily Crops and fences that cross into the Garden paths may be removed.
  • Gardeners should park in the church parking lot, not in the grass
  • Water:
  • Water will be provided in the blue plastic barrels on the eastern edge of the Garden
  • Water barrels will be filled twice a day—once in the morning, once in the evening
  • If barrels need refilling sooner, please call the church office (766-5030) or Pastor Lance (766-4062 or 743-9087)
  • The Trustees of Church of the Redeemer have asked that gardeners DO NOT, under any circumstances, operate the water spigot at the church building (there’s a story there . . .)
  • Others:
  • Please be aware of other gardeners’ water needs. Please do not take more than half the water you find in the blue barrels
  • Weeds spread! Please do your best to keep your garden (relatively!) weed free
  • Please keep your crops from creeping into other people’s gardens
  • Keep us up-to-date! If you have any problems, please contact the church office or Pastor Lance at the numbers above
  • Stay tuned! As the season progresses, we’ll be sending out any information pertinent to the Garden via e-mail! vPlease do not plant in any plot, unless it is specifically assigned to you by the Church of the Redeemer—even if a plot seems not to have been given to a gardener
